Film created for James MacGillivray's elective, 'The Last Machines: A Metahistory of Film and Architecture', MArch, University of Toronto, Winter, 2016.
While traditional avant garde filmmaking techniques often include the use of bleach on 16 mm film, this project adds laser etching as an additional method of production. The film was produced digitally first as an animation, and then deconstructed into single-frame images that were laser etched onto a film strip. The project was finally completed using an additional layer of traditional bleach painting.
